    Plate I 2d Dull Blue, SG 18, [8] good margins all round showing framelines at left and right, with wider margin at top showing portion of double frameline, fine and very scarce. The 2d Sydney View was printed by a print-and-turn technique. Apart from the famous tête-bêche pair on cover, the only evidence of this mode of printing is in the form of stamps showing 'double compartment lines', the additional line being the outer frameline of the adjoining impression. Only when the two impressions were close do such examples occur, and even so such stamps are rare

    Plate I 2d Dull Blue good margins all round, wide at base, tied by crisp reversed ‘9' numeral on 1850 (2 Feb) registered entire from Bathurst to Sydney (FE 5 1850 arrival backstamp), and with mss 'Registered'. Heavy horizontal fold and lighter vertical fold clear of stamp do not unduly detract from this fine and rare entire. Only five internal registered covers bearing Sydney Views are recorded

    Plate I 2d Greyish-blue two blocks of four [4-5/16-17 and 6-7/18-19 - lower units retouched], SG 17/19, rejoined to form a severed block of eight, large margins all round, the right-hand block with [18] slightly cut into at left. Cancelled '26' of Shoalhaven and probably originally used on the same cover. An extraordinary item and the most important piece extant showing the retouched state of Plate I Six used blocks of four of the 2d Plate I in all states can be traced. These two rejoined blocks were formerly in the G.J. Hutson and 'Manwood' Collections, and are illustrated on Plate H of Hutson's The Stamps of New South Wales

    Yellowish Wove Paper: 3d Yellow-green horizontal strip of three [18-20, [18] and [19] variety 'no whip'], SG 39-a, very fine impression with small to good margins, in combination with 1d Plate I Pale Red on Bluish with small even margins all round, tied by '2' numerals to 1852 (10 Aug) double rate ship letter from Parramatta to London. 'PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY' datestamp on face, weak Parramatta despatch and London arrival (2 JA 1851) datestamps on reverse. Mss '1/4' representing the 2 x 8d incoming ship letter charge. Left flap missing, otherwise very fine and a beautiful cover Only four Sydney View covers showing the 2 x 5d Inland + Ship Letter rates are recorded, one being in the Vickery Collection in the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. Two of these bear a strip of three 3d in combination with a 1d, of which this is by far the finest. One of the most important Sydney View covers extant, from the Burrus and Butterwick Collections (see photo outdide back cover)

Creased between 2nd and 3rd units and tiny pinhole in 1st unit, still of generally fine appearance and the only recorded multiple of the Myrtle-green shade. A very important Sydney View piece, from the Ginger, Hutson and 'Manwood' collections. Cat £4200+
