The closest post office to Port Arthur then was Sorell, which was 14 miles from Hobart Town, therefore the rate was 2d for inland coneyance + 3d Ship Letter. The 'Country' endorsement was to show that the letter had not originated in Hobart Town and been treated as a double or triple letter
