    1885-95 4d Lilac ERROR OF COLOUR, SG 300b, one of the finest mint examples of this great Colonial rarity, of which only five singles and two pairs are recorded, making this far rarer than the other comparable colour error of the Australian Colonies, the Western Australia 1879 2d. Provenance: Perry and initialled 'JRWP(urves)' lightly in pencil on reverse

    Postal History; 1849 entire letter to England with strike of 'PAID AT/HORSHAM' in red and backstamped 'HORSHAM/SE24/1849/PT PHILLIP' in black (earliest recorded date), rated in mss. '1/2' and corrected '11d' for carriage to Melbourne only, the 3d ship letter rate unpaid and '8' in black for GB private shipletter rate. Provenance: Perry, Kelly

    Postage Due: 1891 (30th Jul) underpaid cover Rutherglen to Melbourne, bearing Vic 1d orange-brown/pink pair (scarce on cover). Manuscript "1 def/1 fine}2" and "T2d to pay", with poor 'T in oval' struck twice, paid by 2d pale blue and brown-lake SG D3, cancelled by early use of boxed 'L.C.2 JL 31/91'. An attractive early postage due cover
