    The remarkable Contract dated 18 May 1854 for 'Printing & gumming postage stamps' with signatures of James Campbell and James Fergusson together with various parties representing the Colony of Victoria, together with a 'Specimen of gumming' being a glued sample (110 x 240mm approx) of the distinctive paper utilised by the Contractors and duly signed by the respective parties. Unique item of exceptional historical interest

    1855-56 Lithographed by Messrs Campbell & Fergusson: Stone C 'Thumbprint' transfer variety (occurred when laying down a transfer - small thin) on [49] in pair with [50], four margined and two singles [both 49 - margins huge to cut-into] and [27-28] pair (margins in places) showing outstanding ink-splatter affecting both units. Rare varieties

    1855-56 Lithographed by Messrs Campbell & Fergusson: Stone C Substitutions (SG 37d, 38d): Strips of three [29-22-23] and [43-32-33] which were once a block of six, roughly separated largely by hand resulting in major defects, together with imperf 1/- tied to 1855 (26 Oct) cover Melbourne to London per 'Champion of the Seas'. 2/- rate for 1½-2oz. Despite shortcomings, a spectacular franking. Unique with substitutions. Ex Kellow
