    1833 entire letter headed 'Perth 22 Sept 1833' used Perth to England [carried by private ship], mss. charge '1/3' with the usual '1/-' rate, fine framed 'INDIA LETTER/ MARGATE' handstamp in black (Robertson In.1a), arrival backstamp in red. Letter contents of general nature with references to the hardships of farming, postal service, including a ship's captain taking a dislike to someone and refusing to carry their mail! An rare early survivor

'Post Office/Australind/ 17thSeptr1842' (Australind Post Office opened just 5 months earlier), framed '(crown)/GENERAL/POST OFFICE/PERTH' in black, and faint strike of oval '(crown)/ SHIP LETTER/WESTERN AUSTRALIA/PAID' in red, straight-line 'SHIPLETTER' in red, endorsed 'Post Paid 4' and '8' for ship letter, slight soiling. Rare
