    Lot 595
    Estimate: $300 Realised Price : $2,300

    New South Wales Relief Postmarks, an extensive collection of stamps, pieces and covers (some registered) mounted on pages covering the period from early 1930s up to the early decimal period, and including both the 'Cut Down Canceller' alphabetical series and later 'Relief' types including Paids. Toning on a few items, but condition generally good. A rare opportunity to acquire such an extensive accumulation (220+ stamps and pieces, 160 covers)

    Victoria Relief Postmarks collection on leaves of stamps, pieces or covers (some registered) covering the period from 1940s to early decimal and including various types including Paids. Some items with minor faults, but a good basis for further expansion (87 stamps and pieces, 62 covers)

    Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia Relief Postmarks collection on leaves of stamps, pieces or covers (some registered) covering the period from the 1930s to 1960s, various types represented. Also a small group of Papua New Guinea reliefs, mostly on philatelic registered covers. Some faults but condition generally good (40 stamps and pieces, 53 covers)

    Selection of SPECIAL/SYDNEY cancellations c1900-25 inc the cds on NSW 1897 1d & 2d Jubilee issues, range on Kangaroos & KGV Sidefaces inc a few multiples and two 1922 covers to the same addressee in San Francisco franked pair 2d KGV Sideface and 4d KGV Sideface respectively and both tied by SPECIAL/SYDNEY machine cancel. Majority fine (29)

    1930 (Jan) disinfected cover with 2d KGV cancelled 'QUARANTINE/N.S.W.' cds JA /30 (no day), addressed to Young with upper left and lower left and right corner diagonally cut for disinfection, few tone spots

    1944 (12 Feb) cover to Sydney with 1d and 1½d QE cancelled 'T.P.O. 2 WEST/N.S.W. AUST.' cds, and with straight line 'NO P.O. POSTED WYUNA DOWNS SIDING' in violet at upper left, some soiling on reverse

    Eclectic range on leaves inc partially printed reg label from the end of the roll, 1944 OHMS cover handstamped 'Certified Official Mail', NSW 1890 Official TPO cover to Hobart, 1938 part cover showing full strike of 'POST TOWN/NOT KNOWN/IN QUEENSLAND', 1944 cover from Sydney with framed 'POST TOWN/NOT KNOWN IN/ VICTORIA' 1959 cover with framed 'RETURN TO SENDER/TRANSMISSION REFUSED/ POSTED CONTRARY TO POSTAL RULE No. 10', 1960 incoming mail from Switzerland (heavily stained) with official label advising damage in transit, 1961 cover bearing framed 'ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGED BY/STAMP CANCELLING MACHINE', 1961 part cover bearing two 'FOUND OPEN/IMPERFECTLY SEALED/OFFICIALLY SEALED' labels, 1960 3d NSW Stamp Duty on untaxed cover, 1966 meter marking cover franked "0.00", 1968 cover posted wholly unpaid and taxed etc. Poor to fine (94)
