Prussian Blue block of four pos. [37-38/47-48] lovely colour with virtually full original gum showing some toning, a few small spots showing through to face. Margins all round with full bottom selvedge, ragged at right but clear of design. A major rarity of the Laureate series. This is the only recorded mint block of the 2d Plate III, from the Ferrary, C.L. Pack and Dale-Lichtenstein collections. The only other unused multiples which can be traced are a strip of three in the London Public Record Office and a pair in the Tapling Collection in the British Library. SG 63, Cat. £2800+ |
