    Christmas Island: 1908 (27th Jun) stampless cover (275x162mm) from San Francisco to New Zealand, two-line cachet in red 'DAMAGED IN WRECK/OF S.S. AEON.'. [The Aeon came to grief at Christmas Island on July 18th and very few covers have survived]

    Fanning Island: 1911 (26th June) cover to Auckland bearing superb strike in blue of the very rare 'PAID 1D/FANNING ISLAND', overstruck with double-circled 'FANNING ISLAND/JE 26/11' datestamp. Superb and rare item

    Estimate: $1,200 Realised Price : $900

    Fanning Island: Banknote: c.1940s 'FANNING ISLAND PLANTATIONS LTD' 1 serial no. 1209, emergency issue to pay U.S. Forces stationed on island, originally printed in Hawaii. [Most of these notes were bisected for use as 1/- and 2/- tickets at local theatre]. Unlisted in Pick, gVF. A rare survivor
