    Greyish-blue two blocks of four pos. [4-5/16-17 and 6-7/18-19 - lower units retouched] rejoined to form a severed block of eight, large margins all round, the right-hand block having [18] slightly cut into at left. Cancelled ‘26’ at Shoalhaven and probably originally used on the same cover. Six used blocks of four of the 2d Plate I in all states can be traced. These two rejoined blocks were formerly in the G.J. Hutson and ‘Manwood’ collections, and were illustrated on Plate H of Hutson’s The Stamps of New South Wales. An extraordinary item and the most important piece extant showing the retouched state of Plate I

A superb double-rate inland cover, showing a very early date of use of the retouched state of Plate I. From the G.H. Boucher, ‘Espana’ and ‘Manwood’ collections
