[11-14, [12] being variety ‘missing S.E. ray from top left star’] very fine colour and impression and with clear to good margins all round tied by ‘48’ numerals on 1852 (7 May) entire from Tarcutta to Albury with despatch and arrival (8 MY 1852) datestamps on reverse. Ironed-out vertical filing fold through third stamp barely detracts. This is one of only two covers recorded bearing a strip of four 3d Sydney Views, by far the finer of the two, and in addition shows the unique 6 x 2d inland rate (for a 2 to 3 ounce letter). Shown by Robson Lowe at the MIPEX ’63 International Philatelic Exhibition in Melbourne, and ex Dr W.R.D. Wiggins and ‘Manwood’. A wonderful showpiece and one of the most outstanding items in the ‘Carrington’ collection

[16-17/21-22, [22] being variety ‘missing S.E. ray from top left star’] beautiful colour and impression and with clear to good margins all round tied by Sydney obliterators to 1851 (1 Feb) OHMS outer to the Comptroller-General of Convicts in Van Diemen’s Land. Endorsed ‘Pr Shamrock via Launceston’, with PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY despatch ds in red, Launceston arrival ds (10 FE 10 1851) on reverse, and crowned ‘FREE’ arrival datestamp on 11 FE 11 1851. The adhesives pay the 1/- (4 x 3d) quadruple ship letter rate. There are two vertical filing folds and the cover has been refolded at top and bottom as is typical of so many covers from the Pack collection. A superlative cover, and one of the most important items of New South Wales philately in private hands. From the C.L. Pack, Caspary, Sir Andrew Clark, Amundsen and Frankenstein collections.
