    Plate Proof in black on wove paper horizontal strip of three, clear to large margins and very fine. Also a single plate proof in vermilion on bluish wove, oxidised and with an ironed-out vertical crease (4)

    Plate Proof in Red-brown on Blued block of six with small to large margins, very fine and without any of the defects often seen on blocks from this proof sheet

    Orange-vermilion top marginal with large part original gum showing tone spots (not visible on front), adequate margins and showing portion of the adjoining unit at right. Slightly toned but an attractive single. SG 107, Cat. £225

    Orange-vermilion part original gum with clear to good margins, some gum staining showing through to face

    Orange-vermilion block of nine in bright shade with part original gum, clear to small margins all round. Light overall toning and there is an ironed out horizontal crease through the upper strip that has resulted in the right-hand stamp having a 7mm repaired tear. An important Diadem piece, this being the record mint piece of the 1d, from the Ginger and J.S. White collections. With 1997 BPA Certificate. SG 107, Cat. £2025+

    Orange-vermilion horizontal pair with experimental roulettes made by James Dutton in 1856. Large part original gum but colour somewhat oxidised. Very rare, from the block of 24 formerly in the Ginger collection, and ex ‘Manwood’

    Carmine-vermilion block of four with clear to good margins all round, somewhat heavy Sydney obliterators and horizontal crease through top pair, nevertheless used blocks are rare. SG 108, Cat. £96+

    Carmine-vermilion pair (large margins all round) on 1857 (18 Dec) outer sent from Drayton to Ipswich, stamps cancelled ray type ‘85’ (rated RR). Horizontal filing fold and toning on lower half of face, otherwise very fine and clean and a very scarce Moreton Bay District usage in this condition

    Orange-red horizontal strip of four with good margins all round and very light numeral cancel. An exceptional used multiple. SG 109, Cat. £96+

    1d Laureate - the collection comprising Orange-vermilion (9, including a strip of three and pair), Carmine-vermilion (15, including four pairs) and Orange-red (3) all picked examples with four margins (including several with huge margins) and very few faults. A fine group. SG 107/9, Cat. £648+ (27)

    1871 Reprints Watermark Crown over NSW (I) 1d Orange-red (no gum) and Watermark Single-lined ‘2’ 2d Blue (part o.g.) Imperforate overprinted ‘SPECIMEN’, both four margins and fine. Two sheets of each values were printed, one of each being overprinted ‘SPECIMEN’
