    Taxed: 1865 (25 Feb) underpaid inwards cover Manchester to Melbourne via Marseilles bearing 4d and 6d, on arrival handstamp 'DEFICIENT POSTAGE (mss. 10)/FINE_____(mss.6)' and endorsement 'To be left at the Post Office 'until' (sic)/called for, re-addressed to Heathcote, where further mss. '1/4' applied and crossed-out, '1/8' mss./MORE TO PAY' in blue oval applied and mss. 'Paid', backstamps of London, Melbourne and Heathcote

    Taxed: 1870 (10 Sep) cover Melbourne to England with 6d and 4d (fault) cancelled by duplex with ‘8 30’ time instead of code letter (the only recorded example), and framed 'INSUFFICIENTLY PAID/FOR BRINDISI ROUTE/DEFICIENT POSTAGE/ d3' in black, 'POSTED OUT OF/COURSE' in circle, arrival backstamp. Few small faults, still an exceptional cover and superb strike of this famous tax marking
