    Estimate: $350 Realised Price : $625

    1902 Blank at Base ½d, 1d, 2d, 3d, 4d, 6d and 8d (1d, 3d, 4d and 6d with Wmk Inverted), and 1902-04 Design Completed 5d, 1/- and 2/- (2) optd vertical 'SPECIMEN' as used by Tasmania for UPU distribution. Few small faults but generally fine, one 2/- no gum (11)

     

    Lot 329
    Estimate: $450 Realised Price : $650

    1902 Blank at Base ½d, 2d and 3d (latter wmk inverted) optd vertical 'SPECIMEN' (as applied in Tasmania) with additional 'ULTRAMAR' handstamp in blue, as used for UPU distribution to Portuguese Colonies. 3d stained on reverse, others fine no gum (3)

     

    Lot 330
    Estimate: $400 Realised Price : $700

    1902 Blank at Base 2d and 1902-04 Design Completed 10d, each with 'ULTRAMAR' receiving handstamp in violet, applied in Lisbon prior to despatch of UPU specimens to the Portuguese Colonies. These two stamps form part of the distribution from Queensland, which supplied unused stamps. Also with a folder said to have been used by Portugal for forwarding UPU specimens to its Colonies

    1902 Blank at Base 3d and 6d, and 1902-04 Design Completed 1d, 4d (wmk inverted), 5d and 1/- (2) CTO with four concentric circles, as used by Western Australia for UPU distribution. Fine no gum (7)

    1902-04 Design Completed ½d to 20/- optd sans-serif 'SPECIMEN' as used by New South Wales for UPU distribution. The ½d, 1d, 3d, 4d, 6d, 8d, 1/- and 5/- with Wmk Inverted. Generally in better than average condition for this set (14)

    1902-04 Design Completed 20/- Dull Green optd 'SPECIMEN' with additional 'ULTRAMAR' handstamp, as used for UPU distribution to Portuguese Colonies. Fine, no gum

    1909 Wmk Crown over Double-lined A Thick paper £1 with 'MELBOURNE CTO and additional 'MUESTRA' receiving handstamp in Violet. This handstamp is believed to have been applied to high values by the Spanish P.O. prior to despatch to Colonies. Very fine and believed to be unique

    Estimate: $1,250 Realised Price : $2,100

    1922-30 Third Wmk ½d, 1d, 1½d, 2d, 3d and 6d, with Melbourne CTO and additional seriffed 'SPECIMEN' receiving handstamp, ex Bechuanaland UPU collection. Few small perf faults on some values, otherwise fine and a unique set (6)
