    1882 (27 Feb) and (30 Jun) covers Goulburn to Birmingham (b/s) each franked 8d Diadem and tied by Goulburn cds both endorsed 'Overland to Melbourne via Suez & Brindisi' one with Albury and the other with Melbourne cds on rear. Peripheral faults though an unusual routing avoiding Sydney to meet a Melbourne maritime service

    1882 (23 Sep) cover Sydney to Colchester endorsed 'Indus' and franked 8d Diadem cancelled and tied by Sydney duplex with arrival cds on rear. Apparently an example of mail interrupted by the 1882 Anglo-Egyptian war. Extremely fine

    1883 (7 May) cover Sydney to Berlin (b/s on rear) endorsed per ‘S.S.Orient/Naples/ Germany' franked 3d Diadem and 6d DLR both cancelled and tied with two strikes of the Sydney duplex and representing the 9d single rate. Faint vertical crease otherwise a very neat and clean cover

    1885 (16 Nov) cover Sydney to Berlin franked 8d Diadem and 1d DLR both cancelled and tied by Sydney duplex, representing the 9d single rate. Berlin arrival and Brindisi transit cds on reverse. Fine

    1887 (29 Aug) O.H.M.S cover (Medical Board of New South Wales) Sydney to Vienna (b/s) franked 3d Diadem slightly overlapping 6d DLR both optd 'OS' and cancelled and tied by two strikes of the Sydney duplex. The rear with two Italian transit markings. Minor blemishes though rare stamps on cover (SG from x 20)

    1894 (7 Mar) 1½d postcard from Bathurst to Yokohama, Japan, with red chop arrival mark and Nagasaki double-ring datestamp, '8 IIII 1894'

    1895 (24 Jan) 3d registration envelope uprated 2d Emu used from Sydney to Wauchope (b/s on rear), the face bearing two clear strikes of the POSTAGE PAID SYDNEY N.S.W cds (one tying stamp to cover) normally found used on bulk postage and high values. Clean cover and very unusual use of this cds

    1900 (23 Mar) PPC (Wentworth Falls) bearing 1d Shield franking and tied by Pyrmont numeral to England. Underpaid and struck with the 'NSW/T/5' within shield marking and London '1D/F.B./G.' upon arrival

    1900 (15 Nov) used example of Eyre's private Letter Card (Series 1) printed by John Sands & Co franked 1d Shield and used at North Sydney to West Maitland, the rear printed in colour showing a variety of flags of Australian and overseas Shipping Companies and backstamped Sydney and West Maitland arrival cds. Toned and with small tears at top though an uncommon example of private stationery

    1901 (5 Aug) 1d + 1d intact reply postcard each side uprated with ½d De La Rue adhesive used at Orange and addressed to a ship in Canada and redirected on arrival to Portsmouth where the reply side has been reposted with a GB 1½d QV adhesive back to Australia. Faults incl one of the message sides pasted over and all over toned but a very scarce and unusual use

    1902 (16 Jan) 3d registration envelope to New York bearing solo franking 1/- Centennial Kangaroo tied by Grafton duplex. Fine

    Estimate: $150 Realised Price : $210

    1903 (3 Feb) cover Sydney to Parramatta franked 2d Jubilee cancelled and tied 'SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY' duplex and struck with double oval 'SHIP LETTER/1D/LATE FEE' and marginal 1d due attached. The 1d late fee was re-introduced in 1901. Cover creased and slightly toned though a scarce late fee marking

    Postal History remainders on leaves from 1847 with stampless or pre-stamp covers (to and from UK) plus five with stamps removed, two Electric Telegraph forms, 1856 cover franked 2d Laureate with '56' (Hexham) numeral cancel in manuscript, few inland covers franked 2d Laureate, Registered Letter Bills of the 1860's (5), few items to or from Moreton Bay District, 1869 town letter franked 1d DLR, 1868 cover (no letter) addressed to Mrs Deighton Taylor (nee Rachael Henning), Tattersalls mail to Hobart including a 1901 officially registered cover. Mixed condition though an interesting array (47)

    1913 (22 Jun) 1½d postcard from Sydney to Lisbon, Portugal, with machine cancellation. Uncommon destination
