    1849 (19 Oct) OHMS entire letter headed 'Ballanee/Ballan', addressed to 'Commissioner of Crown Lands', weak strike of 'BALLAN/PORT PHILLIP' datestamp in black (earliest recorded date), rated '7' in black for 30-50 miles of carriage

Cover faults, incl missing back flap and re-inforced along top edge, still attractive
