    3d Blue Plate 7 Ash imprint block of 4, 4R55 with variety 'White Flaw Below Kangaroo's Paw', gum thins in lower selvedge, and gum slightly toned. BW 109(7)z, cat AU$400

    3d Blue Plate 8 Ash imprint block of 4, one unit with stain on reverse, mounted in selvedge only. BW 109(8)z, cat AU$350

    3d Blue Optd 'OS' used on 1934 (9 MY) OHMS brown envelope (229mm x 103mm) from the Secretary, Forestry Commission to San Francisco, adhesive tied by Creswick '7' numeral duplex. Very fine and a great George V cover rarity, being one of two recorded solo usages of this stamp on cover. BW109(OS), under catalogued at AU$1200

    4d Greenish-olive solo franking for 1-2oz letter tied by 'RELIEF STAMP/JAN 7-PM/1935/N.S.W.' repeater cancel, a little reduced at right, attractive

    4d Olive with N.S.W. State type 'OS' Puncture, fine used with machine cancel, and scarce. With 2019 Drury Certificate

    5d Yellow-brown overprinted 'OS' solo on 1934 (2 Jun) first flight Mundubbera to Brisbane cover. BW cat AU$750 for commercial cover

     

    Lot 424
    Estimate: $250 Realised Price : $190

    1/4d Greenish-blue possibly record franking (despite apparently two units missing) of eight, etc tied by Air Mail Late Fee/Sydney cds to 1938 (2 Jun) cover (280 x 120mm) to London, faults in few other stamps present. The surviving franking aggregate is 21/5d, or 24/1d assuming 1/4d x 2 were lost in transit (24/1d = 1/6d ½oz airmail x 16 + 1d late fee)

     

    Lot 425
    Estimate: $1,250

    1/4d Deep Turquoise, a striking shade cancelled with Launceston South cds 17 AU 34, with the '7' officially altered to '6' in manuscript. Missing perf at right, otherwise fine. This stamp is clearly from a different sheet to that discussed in the BW footnote, sold in 1938 in Queensland. BW 131c, cat AU$6250
