    PICTURE POSTCARDS, AUSTRALIA, VICTORIA

    Lot 116
    Estimate: $200 Realised Price : $210

    Victorian Railway Tourist Series: Range of these semi-official cards featuring rural scenes, 60 different coloured scenes represented plus a few duplicates (often showing design differences). About half are used and a number have faults, but the majority are in good to fine condition (total 63 cards)

        

    Lot 117
    Estimate: $100 Realised Price : $340

    Post Offices: Group of cards (plus some mounted photographs) featuring illustrations of post offices, early 1900s to 1950s, smaller offices represented include Boort, Myrtleford, Nhill, Murtoa, Portarlington, Woodend, Walhalla, Inglewood, Donald. A number of cards are used and some have faults, however many are fine (53)

        

    Lot 118
    Estimate: $250 Realised Price : $320

    Melbourne: Good collection in album, pre 1920s, with emphasis on views of buildings, few River Yarra scenes, plus a few non-Melbourne (including Lorne, Warburton, bush scenes). Many different publishers are included, some real photos including 1907 Women's Exhibition ('Welcoming Lady Northcote'). A proportion are used, and there are the usual small faults and blemishes, but the majority are good to fine (approx 300)

       

    Lot 119
    Estimate: $180 Realised Price : $320

    Melbourne: Good collection in album, pre 1920s, with emphasis on city street scenes, plus a few building views, there are a few suburban scenes as well. Wide range of publishers is included, and a proportion is used. Typical small faults and blemishes are present on some, but the majority are good to fine (253)

       

    Lot 120
    Estimate: $180 Realised Price : $320

    Melbourne: Good collection, pre-1920s, in album with emphasis on landmarks and attractions, bridges, beaches, and a few buildings, plus a useful group of suburban scenes. Many different publishers are represented and a proportion are used. The usual blemishes and small faults are present on some, but the majority are good to fine (approx 260)

        

    Lot 121
    Estimate: $50 Realised Price : $38

    Melbourne: 'Budget Card' published in Germany featuring a letter carrier with an affixed postbag containing fold-up views of Melbourne, used to Port Fairy. Few tiny blemishes otherwise very fine and attractive

     

    Lot 122
    Estimate: $80 Realised Price : $160

    Melbourne: two cards showing the lawn at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day (one with adhesions on reverse due to previous affixing), plus cards showing the finishes of the 1905, 1908 and 1909 Melbourne Cups (the first damaged, and all used). Few blemishes but scarce cards (5)

       

    Lot 123
    Estimate: $600 Realised Price : $2,000

    Country Areas: A comprehensive collection in three albums, early 1900s to 1950s (mostly pre-1930), all regions represented with good groups of the large towns (Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo) but with most other towns well covered (Healesville/Warburton is especially strong), also a few Melbourne suburbs. Street scenes, buildings, landmarks and bush scenes as well as individual and group photos are all included. A proportion are used with the usual small faults and blemishes, and there are some damaged cards, but a high proportion are good to fine (approx 580)
