    Group of high value Engraved Chalons, with 1882-95 10/- Brown and £1 Deep Green (2) on Beer duty paper (SG 160-161), 10/- Brown and £1 Deep Green Thin Paper (SG 164-165), 1905-06 £1 Deep Green Perf 12 (SG 274), and 1907-11 Wmk Crown over A 5/- Rose (SG 310). Most with part OG, faults with some but high cat value (7)

    1870 (28 Dec) cover to Bury, Lancashire with 1868-78 6d Yellow-green Chalon tied by Brisbane 'Q' obliterator, Brisbane and Bury datestamps on reverse. Flap faults, and with tone spots

    Estimate: $1,250

    1885 (19 Feb) cover to Aylesford, Nova Scotia with 1882-91 1d and 6d tied by Brisbane duplexes, endorsed 'via Sydney & San Francisco' and with 'PAID/ALL' in circle, Windsor (Ont.) backstamp. Back flap tears, otherwise very fine and attractive, and a scarce destination

    1889 (4 Nov) registered cover to Rome with 1882-91 1d Vermilion, 4d Yellow and 6d Green tied by 'REGISTERED LETTER/BRISBANE' cds, boxed Naples registration mark applied on arrival, and with Naples and Rome arrival backstamps. 11d franking represents the 7d rate direct to Italy plus 4d registration. Few light stains, otherwise fine and attractive, ex Hugh Campbell

    1891 (12 Jun) registered cover from Ayr to Malta with 1890 ½d (2), 1d, 2d and 6d cancelled '353' numerals, with 'REGISTERED/AYR' and backstamps of Townsville, Suez, Alexandria and Malta (JY 29 91). Considerable toning both sides and other small faults, but a rare destination, 10d representing 6d postage plus 4d registration

    1894 (7 Aug) registered cover bearing 1d x 5 tied by Numeral '229', rare Morven handstruck steel REGISTERED and early use of 'fleurons' datestamp, backstamped Brisbane
