    1856 (10 Jul) cover 'per Phoenician' Sydney to England franked 2 x 6d Diadem margins full to touching cancelled Sydney dumb obliterators not tied. The reverse with despatch and arrival cds and the face with London transit marking. Few flap faults though a scarce double rate cover

    1856 (11 Oct) cover 'per Montmorency' Sydney to Scotland franked imperf 6d & 1/- Diadems four margins each except where cut into at left on 6d representing the double 9d (2 x 6d ship letter + 2 x 3d Colonial rate) rate. The adhesives struck with the Sydney dumb obliterator which ties one of the values. The rear with Sydney departure and Ayr arrival cds and the face with a Liverpool transit mark. Creased and small repair at top otherwise a scarce double rate

    1856 (11 Oct) registered cover Sydney to London endorsed 'Montmorency per Melbourne' and franked 2 x 6d Diadem, pair 3d Laureate and 6d bi-coloured registered stamp (mainly four-margined) all cancelled Sydney dumb obliterator. The face with Sydney GPO registered oval and London CROWN/REGISTERED and manuscript '6' and handstruck 'd6' representing internal registration due. The rear struck with the Australian/Paid/Liverpool/Packet cds scored over in ink and the same version without 'Paid' applied. Extraordinary registered double ship letter plus double Colonial ship letter rate. RPSL Certificate (2001). Ex Molnar

    1856 (24 Oct) cover Wagga Wagga to England franked strip of three 2d Diadem cut into at left and right and small tear at base of first unit tied by messy duplex and London transit marking. Wagga Wagga, Gundagai and Sydney transit and Penzance arrival cds on rear and the front with '3' accountancy marking

    1856 (1 Nov) outer Sydney to St Denis, Reunion endorsed 'per Natal via Mauritius' franked 1d & 2d Diadems both cancelled and tied by Sydney dumb obliterators. The face with Mauritius GPO crowned ds and the rear with Sydney and St Denis ds. Faint horizontal crease not affecting adhesives though a very rare destination. Ex 'Manwood' and Rivett-Carnac

    1856 (25 Nov) cover Sydney to London 'pr "Maid of Juddah"' franked four margined 6d Diadem and tied by London arrival marking in face with additional handstruck '3' on face. Sydney despatch and Plymouth entry cds on rear. Ex Forster. Fine

    1856 (17 Dec) large part outer 'per "Wooloomooloo"' Sydney to London franked four margined 6d Diadem centrally cancelled and tied. The face with London arrival cds and handstruck '3' accountancy marking and the rear with Sydney despatch cds. Two file folds and slight soiling otherwise neat

    Estimate: $3,500 Realised Price : $6,250

    1856 (22 Dec) registered front Sydney to France endorsed 'per Admiral' and franked 1d (variable margins), 3d, 8d (just cut into) and 2 x 1/- Diadems plus (6d) bicoloured Registered stamp (touching at right). All cancelled with the Sydney dumb obliterator and either tied to the cover or each other. Struck with two strikes of the Sydney oval registered ds (additionally tying both 1/- values), London oval registered datestamp, CROWN/REGISTERED handstamp and 'PD' within circle also applied plus French entry mark (Calais) additionally tying 8d value and 'CHARGE' (registered) marking all applied to face. Two adhesives applied partially over the edge nevertheless a remarkable five colour franking. Ex Slade Slade and Frankenstein

    1856 (24 Dec) registered entire Sydney to England endorsed 'p "Dunbar" 24/12/56' franked 1/- Diadem and (6d) bicoloured Registered stamp both cancelled & tied by Sydney obliterators. Peripheral faults and rear tears, rated '6' in manuscript twice. Newbury arrival cds on rear and Sydney registered ds and London 'CROWN/ REGISTERED' handstamps on face. Scarce double registered rate
