    AUSTRALIAN COLONIES, NEW SOUTH WALES, POSTAL STATIONERY

    Lot 150
    Estimate: $150 Realised Price : $380

    Selection with Registration envelopes (3 mint - 4d long format, 3d on 4d long format and 3d and used - 4d (1) and 3d (10 - one 'unsealed' paying the printed matter rate and rare thus) plus newspapers wrappers comprising 1869 1d DLR (16 mint - majority never folded and one used to Melbourne) 1888 1d Centennial (73 mint - the majority never folded - and 3 used one of which is cancelled with the scarce POSTAGE PAID SYDNEY N.S.W. cds), 1892 ½d grey (25 mint - the majority never folded and 7 used, one to Fiji, another uprated to Tonga and another to NZ redirected to Adelaide), 1906 ½d unwmkd (4 mint and 4 used one uprated to London another with early date of 15.3.1906) plus four other odd examples and Envelopes comprising OHMS 'OS' within indicia registered pre-printed envelopes to Dept of Public Instruction (3 - one apparently CTO), 1870 1d red mint and 2d Blue (2 - both used), 1888 1d Brick-red used in 1888, 1888 1d Centennial (13 - 9 mint, one a doubleton with rear advertisement for John Robertson Whisky and 4 used) and 2d Emu (1 mint and 5 used), 1895 ½d used within Sydney and struck with '20 POSTED' handstamp, 1883 1d DLR 'OS' (5 - one CTO), 1888 1d Centennial 'OS' (3 - one showing three x double batrs in red over the indicium) and 1895 2d DLR 'OS' OHMS envelope for the Govt Printing Office aklso with three x double bars in red over the indicium plus two other later envelopes. Mixed condition though an opportunity to study a range of flaws and stocks present in this collection (189)

     

    Lot 151
    Estimate: $80 Realised Price : $105

    Envelopes: 1899 (21 Nov) use of 2d Jubilee printed to private order large format envelope (173 x 111mm) from Berrigan to Sydney. Vertical central fold resulting in some splitting and a few minor tears at top though an uncommon example of postal stationery

    Postcards: Mainly mint and used (a few SPECIMEN or CTO) selection comprising 1875 1d rose script (1), 1875 1d rose seriffed thin card (2 - both unused), 1877 1d rose seriffed thick card (13), 1883 1d + 1d reply (4 intact & 2 detached halves), 1887 1d carmine (4), 1888 1d violet (29), 1889 2d & 3d Jubilee (1 each, both unused), 1890 1d violet (54), 1891 1d + 1d violet (27 intact & 3 detached halves), 1891 1½d (6), 1892 1½d + 1½d (9 & 1 detached half), 1893 1½d + 1½d (2), 1895 1½d (8), 1896 1d violet (11) & 1½d violet (8), 1897 1d vermilion (26), 1897 1d "Greetings From" (10), 1897 1d "Christmas Greetings" (1), 1897 1d + 1d Carmine (1), 1898 1½d Dark Blue "With New Year Greetings" (4), 1904 1d Red, 5 line heading (3), 1905 1d Red 6 line heading (2), 1907 1d with dividing line (7) and 1½d with dividing line (1), 1907 1d view card (1) and 1907 "Greetings From" (1) plus 'OS' opt on 1890 1d violet (14) and an OHMS Postcard without indicia uprated 1d Arms punctured 'OS/NSW' and an unused private

     

    Lot 153
    Estimate: $100 Realised Price : $75

    1888 1d Violet Centennial Postcard on PTPO (buff stock) envelope. One unused and one used in 1892 (19 Jul) from Sydney to Surry Hills. Mostly fine and both scarce on this coloured stock (2)

     

    Lot 154
    Estimate: $500 Realised Price : $380

    Registration Envelope: 1909 (29 Sep) use of 3d from The Exchange to Parramatta uprated with 2d Jubilee punctured 'OS/NSW' and the indicia similarly punctured. Parts of the address obscured by a non-postal datestamp though unrecorded by H&G and RL Encyclopaedia, not present in the Ed Druce collection and possibly unique

     

    Lot 155
    Estimate: $250 Realised Price : $300

    Wrapper: 1892 ½d DLR Proof, probably for a newspaper wrapper, in the issued colour of Grey on cream wove paper (222 x 136mm) with triple oval 'GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE/SYDNEY' cachet in violet dated 17 AUG 91. Two vertical folds and some minor spotting, otherwise fine and rare

     

    Lot 156
    Estimate: $150 Realised Price : $420

    1897 1d Arms Newspaper Wrapper, the indicia punctured 'OS/NSW' alongside printed 'Government Tourist Bureau, Sydney' and used locally at Sydney (30.12.1900?). File fold and a few blemishes though no examples in the Druce or Bell collections and very scarce thus
