    1856 1d plate proof block of 4 in black on wove paper, Nos. [75-76/87-88], margins good to clear at left

    1856 1d plate proof lower right corner block of 20 in red-brown on blued, Nos. [69-72/81-84/93-96/105-108/117-120] showing distinct 'ivory heads' on reverse. Horizontal crease along top and [84] damaged and repaired, still the equal largest piece surviving from the sheet which came onto the market in 1943. Ex 'Manwood'

    The three listed shades comprising Orange-vermilion vertical pair and single, Carmine-vermilion vertical pair and single, and Orange-red horizontal pair and single. Pairs just touched in places, generally fine (9)

    Orange-vermilion horizontal strip of 4 cancelled ray type ''50'' numeral (Albury), margins good to just clear all round, some staining on reverse, and 1d Orange-red horizontal strip of 4 touched at left on piece lightly cancelled ray type ''69'' numeral (Murrurundi). Scarce multiples (8)

    Orange-vermilion used with 2d Deep Turquoise-blue on 1856 (28 Nov) envelope from Sydney to Bothwell, Tasmania, cancelled and just tied by dumb obliterator. 'SHIP LETTER INWARDS FREE' datestamp for 4 DE 1856 on face, and Sydney despatch datestamp on reverse. A fine early example of the 3d intercolonial ship letter rate

    Orange-red horizontal strips of 3 and 4 cancelled 'N.S.W.' in ovals, former fine with margins all round, latter touched at left and right on piece dated Sydney JA 27 1860 (7)
