AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH, AEROPHILATELY/FLIGHT COVERS
Lot 864
Estimate: $10,000
1940 (22 Oct) film case sent by \'Northern Transport Agency\' in London to the \'Dept of Information/Melbourne\' with the truly remarkable franking of Great Britain KGVI 10/- Dark Blue x 40 (some damage as to be expected) with customs label affixed stating \'Negative Cinema Film/357. feet./(value) £24-0-10\'. The postage rate at this time was 4/6d per ½oz (the space above the customs label suggests a 5/- stamp has fallen off) thus paying the rate of 4/6d x 90 ½oz = 45oz. An outstanding item for an airmail exhibit. [Includes April 2007 \'Stamp News\' article titled \'Philately of Epic Proportions\' featuring this item]
