    2d Die Proof in black printed direct onto thin card, 36 x 40mm. One tone spot at top clear of design. Very rare

    Plate Proof in black on wove paper, block of four pos. [35-36/47-48], large margins except just touched at top left, and ironed-out diagonal crease through right-hand pair. Also a single plate proof in Grey-black on thin card (5)

    Blue with large part original toned gum, small to large margins and fine colour. SG 112, Cat. £180

    Deep Blue horizontal pairs pos. [37-38] part original gum and [73-74] unused, both bold colour with small to good margins all round. [37] and [73] show the blistered state prior to retouching. Fine and very scarce. SG 112, Cat. £720+ (4)

    Ultramarine horizontal strip of three close to large margins all round, cancelled faint but legible ray type ‘139’ of Tinonee. A rare use of red ink by a country post office. SG 111, Cat. £42+

    Pale Blue block of six with large margins all round, ironed-out horizontal crease through top pair, cancelled ray type ‘95’ of Brisbane. A scarce multiple used in the Moreton Bay District. SG 113, Cat. £84+

    2d Diadem - the collection on leaves of Watermark Double-lined ‘2’ printings mounted on leaves, comprising 88 stamps, including a vertical strip of three and five pairs, virtually all fine four-margin examples in a wide range of shades, and showing a variety of cancellations. Also 2d Plate II fine used (4). A fine lot. SG 110/113, minimum Cat. £1492 (91)

    First Retouch Deep Dull Blue horizontal pair pos. [103-104], [104] showing extensive redrawing of diadem and hair, and at base of neck. Good margins three sides and just touched at lower right, cancelled ‘140’ of Moorna. A fine example of this major retouch, ex Slade Slade

    Second Retouch Dull Blue vertical pair pos. [24/36] [24] showing heavy retouching to neck, with three vertical lines in shading below, [36] showing a blistered impression. Good to large margins with sheet margin at right, cancelled Sydney duplex dated AU 12 1859. The retouch was very short-lived and is very rare. Very fine and one of the most important pieces known of these retouches, Ex Hutson and ‘Manwood’ , and illustrated in Hutson’s The Stamps of New South Wales on page 34

    Second Retouch Deep Dull Blue horizontal pair pos. [104-105], [104] showing heavy retouching to base of neck and shading below, [105] showing a blistered impression. Close margins three sides and just touched along top, tied to small piece by ray type ‘66’ with accompanying Singleton ds of AU 19 1859. Very fine and one of the most important pieces known of these retouches, Ex Hutson and ‘Manwood’, and illustrated in Hutson’s The Stamps of New South Wales on page 34

    Third Retouch Cobalt Blue pos. [24] showing very extensive redrawing of side panels, diadem and hair, and background to head, and ‘TWO PENCE’ redrawn. Close to good margins, cancelled ‘4’ of Richmond (rated RR). A very fine example of the most extensive of all the Plate I retouches
