    THE KEN BARELLI CLASSIC VICTORIA, 1850-59 HALF-LENGTHS, 1857 ROULETTED 7-9 AT G.P.O. MELBOURNE

    J.S. Campbell printings: 3d blue, SG 48, very fine pair tied by Barred Numeral '1' (Melbourne) to piece. Ex Perry

    J.S. Campbell printings, experimental roulettes: 3d blue pair (SG 48, creased at top) tied by Barred Oval '1' to 1854 (3 Aug) cover Melbourne to Geelong, paying 6d Inland Letter rate. Once thought to be a private roulette, Kellow states 'it is now considered distinctly possible that some official experimentation with a rouletting machine took place in Melbourne in the latter part of 1854, and that small quantities of a number of different stamps were treated.' Other denominations known to have been so treated are the 1/- Octagonal and 2/- Woodblock. Unique on cover. Ex Pack, Wawn, Perry. Illustrated Kellow page 62
