    1917 (16 Dec) cover addressed to Lieut. W.P. Heslop in London, with 'FIELD POST OFFICE/D.C.1' double ring cds, and boxed 'crown/PASSED/BY/CENSOR No./4819' in pink. William Pryce Heslop enlisted on 1 May 1917 and was given the rank of Lieutenant in the Australian Flying Corps; he served in various capacities in the U.K. for the duration of the war. Heslop was later a well-known philatelist whose name is seen on many early air mail covers, and he formed a significant collection of Australian Colonial issues. The writer is believed to be his brother, who was with the 1st Aust. Inf. Div at Messine, Flanders at the date of writing

    1918 (23 Sep) cover addressed to Melbourne Halton Camp double ring cds and superb oval 'AUSTRALIAN FLYING CORPS/WENDOVER/HALEFIELD CAMP' ds in violet. Halefield Camp was a training site for the support crews for the Flying Corps Squadrons. Very fine and rare
