Hawker & Grieve's attempted 1919 Transatlantic Crossing came to and end when their failing plane fell into the Atlantic in sight of a rescue ship. On their return to London they were nevertheless hailed as heroes

    1935 (Dec) England-Australia per Imperial Airways flying boat 'City of Khartoum' which crash landed on approach to Alexandria, long envelope (228mm x 100mm) from British Insulated Cables Ltd. to their office in Melbourne, stamps washed off and with water damage, reverse with Melbourne cds of 19JA36, plus two-line 'RECEIVED AT G.P.O. MELBOURNE/DAMAGED BY WATER' in violet. AAMC 535, cat AU$325

    1938 (26 Feb) E.A. Crome cover for Parachutist Miss Jean Burns, who parachuted at Kingsford Smith Aerodrome in association with the Australian Sesquicentenary celebrations. This was the first instance of 'parachute' covers in Australia, 50 covers were carried, signed by parachutist. AANC788a, cat AU$125
