1874 (27 Jun) entire from the G.P.O. London to Larne, Ireland clarifying a question regarding the Melbourne mails which had been raised as a legal matter. it is stated 'That the time occupied on the transmission of Mails between this Country and Melbourne is 47 days via Brindisi and 55 days via Southampton. It will be seen, therefore, that it would not be possible for a letter to reach Melbourne in 42 days . . . ' An interesting sidelight   | ||
