    1870 (28 Jan) large part cover from Sydney to Antigua via Southampton per R.M.S "Geelong", franked 6d and 1/- Diadems Perf 13 each cancelled and tied with Sydney duplex and representing the ½ oz rate, and with arrival backstamp. The cover rather flimsy and repaired at top, left and rear flap and portion of the reverse missing nonetheless of good appearance

    1870 (25 Aug) cover to New Bedford, Massachusetts with 6d Purple Diadem Perf 13 tied by Sydney duplex, San Francisco transit datestamp and New Bedford arrival backstamp (OCT 15). rated '10' cents incoming charge from addressee. Very fine and an attractive transpacific usage

    1871 (6 Sep) outer to Glasgow with 3d Dull Green Diadems Perf 12 (3) tied by Sydney duplexes, paying the ½ ounce via Brindisi rate, Glasgow arrival backstamp. Light vertical filing fold, otherwise fine

    1873 (3 Nov) cover from the Curator of Intestate Estates to London with 6d Bright Mauve De La Rue pair Perf 13 tied by Sydney duplexes. Exceptional quality, a fine double rate cover carried via San Francisco

    1873 (19 Dec) cover to Valparaiso, Chili with 1871-1902 6d Bright Mauve Perf 13 (with wing margin) tied by '14' in rays of Orange. Endorsed 'Via San Francisco' and with Panama transit datestamp, and Orange and Sydney backstamp. A further endorsement reads 'Checked & paid at Panama 1/' ?(By the British Consul ?), which would appear to relate to the correct rate to Chile became 1/6d from 10 February 1874 while this cover was in transit. Very fine cover to a very scarce destination

    1874 (21 Mar) cover to Madras, India with 1d Salmon De La Rue Perf 13 and 6d Bright Mauve De La Rue Perf 13 pair tied by '535' in rays of Cobbity, endorsed 'per R.M.S. Ellora to Melbourne R.M.S. Nubia to Galle', range of despatch, transit and arrival backstamps. A very fine example of the 'Galle Penny', the extra 1d charge being levied on all letters carried on the P. & O. service from Melbourne via Galle, since N.S.W. had to meet the cost of transport to Melbourne. Examples of the 1/1d rate to India in the brief period the rate was in force (10.2.1874 to 27.5.1875) must be rare

    Two registered covers to a Chinese in Sydney, the first 1874 (20 Nov) from Morpeth with 6d De La Rue tied by '62' in rays of Morpeth (cover spotty and with stains), the second 1881 (23 May) with 6d De La Rue tied by '164' in rays (Rated R) of Ironbarks, very fine (2 covers)

    1875 (3 Sep) cover to Seaford, Sussex with 1/- Diadem Perf 12 and 3d Diadem Wmk Crown over NSW (I) Perf 13 tied by Sydney duplexes, endorsed 'Via Brindisi route' and with arrival backstamp. A very fine and attractive franking representing the 9d via Brindisi rate plus 6d late fee

Very fine quality, representing the 11d ½ ounce via San Francisco

Splitting of back flap, otherwise of very fine appearance

    1880 (7 Oct) cover to Bordeaux, France with 1877 8d Yellow Diadem Perf 13 tied by Sydney duplex, endorsed 'Per S.S. "Australia" Via San Francisco', and with scarce '1½D' handstamp in purple for the amount due to the London G.P.O. Few minor marks on face and some pink staining on reverse
