    Moreton Bay District: 1857 (7 Aug) envelope to Newcastle-on-Tyne U.K. with Imperf 6d Olive-grey Diadem cancelled Brisbane '95' ray type numeral. Brisbane, Sydney and arrival (DE 7 1857) backstamps, envelope with some soiling

    Moreton Bay District: 1857 (14 Dec) cover from Ipswich to Melbourne bearing Imperf 1d and 6d Diadems (both touched at top) tied by ray type '87' numerals. Reverse with Ipswich despatch and Sydney transit datestamp, and red "SHIP LETTER/FREE/G.P.O. VICTORIA" arrival (DE 22 1857) datestamp. Some ink marks on face, otherwise fine. Ex H. Gordon Kaye

    Moreton Bay District: 1858 (25 Feb) registered outer from Drayton to Ipswich with (6) Registered Imperf (margins all round, huge at base) and 2d Plate I Imperf (close to good margins all round) tied by '85' in rays, reverse with despatch and arrival datestamps. Very fine and rare in this condition, unlisted in the Palmer census

    Moreton Bay District: 1858 (23 Mar) entire to Ipswich with Imperf 2d Deep Blue Diadem (just touched top left and right) tied by '95' ray type numeral of Brisbane, fine

    Estimate: $1,000 Realised Price : $1,250

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (23 Feb) registered outer (no side flaps) from Toowoomba to Brisbane with (6)d Registered Imperf and 1d Diadem Imperf pair (both four margins) tied by '214' in rays (rated RRR). Reverse with Toowoomba despatch cds, and Ipswich transit and Brisbane arrival datestamps. Address partially erased, light vertical filing fold barely affects one 1d stamp, otherwise good appearance and from one of the scarcer post offices

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (1 Jun) outer from Ipswich to Brisbane with 1d Diadem Imperf pair (good to large margins all round) cancelled light '87' in rays, reverse with despatch and arrival datestamps, very fine provisional period usage

    Estimate: $700

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (6 Aug) entire from Ipswich to Tenterfield (N.S.W.) with 2d Diadem Plate II Imperf bottom marginal vertical pair and single (both good margins all round) with indistinct rays cancel. Reverse with Ipswich despatch cds, Warwick and Maryland transits and Tenterfield arrival cds. Second line of address erased, and sone toning on reverse

    Estimate: $2,500

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (29 Aug) long cover (222 x 94mm) to Lyttleton, New Zealand with 6d Diadem Imperf (2, contrasting shades of Olive-grey and Greyish-brown, both large margins all round) tied by Brisbane concentric ovals duplex, and with Port Victoria arrival datestamp (SP 28 60) on face. Back flap torn and two vertical folds away from adhesives, however very rare, Palmer records only one other Moreton Bay District cover to New Zealand, from the same correspondence (a single rate franking)

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (3 Sep) registered outer from Warwick to Tenterfield (N.S.W.) with (6)d Registered and 1/- Diadem Perf 12 tied by '81' in rays, with 'REGISTERED/WARWICK', and reverse with Warwick despatch cds and Maryland transit and Tenterfield arrival datestamps. Second line of address erased, otherwise very fine, and a major provisional period rarity, the perforated issues being very rare on cover

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (13 Sep) cover to London with 6d Greyish-brown Diadem Imperf (large margins all round) tied by Brisbane concentric ovals duplex, London arrival cds on reverse (NO 18 60). Very fine and rare in this condition

    Estimate: $2,500

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (17 Sep) outer from Condamine to Brisbane with 1d Diadem Imperf strip of 4 (good margins all round except barely touched at lower left corner) tied by '151' in rays (mostly indistinct, but one quite readable, rated RRRRR by Freeman. Reverse with Condamine despatch cds and Dalby transit and Brisbane arrival datestamps. Fine appearance, a wonderful and very rare provisional cover

     

    Lot 456
    Estimate: $600 Realised Price : $460

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (8 Oct) outer to Rockhampton with 2d Diadem Plate II Imperf (very fine with large margins all round) tied by Brisbane concentric ovals duplex, Rockhampton arrival datestamp alongside. Light, slightly toned, vertical filing fold, otherwise exceptional quality, unlisted in the Palmer census

     

    Lot 457
    Estimate: $750

    Moreton Bay District: 1860 (20? OC) mourning cover to Peel (N.S.W.) with 6d Greyish-brown Diadem Imperf (large margins all round except just cut into at bottom right) tied by Brisbane concentric oval duplex, with Peel arrival cds on face, reverse with 'SYDNEY/SHIP LETTER' and Bathurst datestamps. Very fine appearance and a rare provisional period usage, not listed in the Palmer census
