    1855 London Prints Imperf 1d Carmine horizontal pair, good margins three sides, just cut into at upper right, cancelled '56' numeral. Good colour and a scarce pair, with 2002 RPSV Certificate. SG 14, cat £1800

    1855 London Prints Imperf 4d Deep Blue (fine with four margins) used on 1856 (23 Oct) outer from Hobart to Sydney, tied by '60' numeral and diamond 'POST OFFICE/LAUNCESTON' datestamp in red, endorsed 'per "Royal Shepherd" ' and reverse with 'SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY' datestamp. Very fine

    1856-57 No Watermark Imperf 1d Pale Brick-red horizontal pair (just touched at top and down right side), 2d Dull Emerald-green (margins all round, close at base), 4d Blue horizontal pair (good margins all round except just touched at lower right corner), 4d Deep Blue fine with good margins, good examples of this difficult issue. SG 19-23, cat £2670 (6)

    1856-57 No Watermark Imperf 1d Deep Red-brown on Pelure Paper, large margins all round and showing portion of adjoining stamp at right, cancelled '64' numeral, a very fine example of this stamp rarely found in this condition, with 1997 BPA Certificate. SG 24, cat £750

    1857-67 Watermark Double-lined Numerals Imperf used range of 1d and 2d shades, with 1d Red-brown (7), Dull Vermilion (4), Brick-red (4), and Carmine (9), and 2d Dull Emerald-green, Green, Deep Green (2), Yellow-green (3, incl pair), and Slate-green. Selected examples, with the majority with four margins and mostly light cancellations, an exceptional lot. SG 25-34, minimum cat £1800 (32)

    1857-90 Chalon duplicated range on hagners, with 1857-67 Imperf 1d (2), 2d, 4d (7), 1858 Imperf 6d (4) and 1/- (5), 1863-71 Perf 10 1d (6, one unused), 2d, 4d (3), 1871-91 Perf 11½ or 12 1d, 2d (6), 6d (25, incl four M), 1/- (2). Condition much above average with many fine imperfs, some with faults of fiscal cancels, however as very useful lot of high catalogue value (63)

    1857-67 Watermark Double-lined '1' Imperf 1d Pale Red-brown, 1d Brick-red and 1d Dull Vermilion part OG, and 1d Carmine unused no gum, each with four margins (large in places) and of very fine appearance. A very scarce group. SG 26-29, cat £1900 (4)

    1857-67 Watermark Double-lined Numerals Imperf 1d Brick-red horizontal strip of 4, margins three sides (barely touched at base of third unit) and just cut into at top right, cancelled neat '91' numerals and a fine multiple, ex Sebastian Earl. SG 27, cat £168+

    1857-67 Watermark Double-lined Numerals Imperf 4d Blue block of 9 with pen fiscal cancel '6/10/63', margins three sides, just touched down left side. A rare multiple, stated to be the earliest recorded use of postage stamps for fiscal purposes, which was authorised on 1 October 1863. SG 37, cat £252++ as postally used

    1858 Watermark Double-lined Numerals Imperf 6d Dull Lilac superb with large margins on small piece cancelled '62' numeral plus London arrival ds in red, and 1/- Vermilion (2), both superb four-margin examples. SG 40-41, cat £260 (3)
