    Lot 233
    Estimate: $20,000

    1854 1/- Plate Proof in Black on wove paper, slightly ragged margin at left, with reverse showing an offset of the 4d design in black, shifted to the left and thus showing portion of the unit to the right. This unit is No. 37 on the intermediate stone which was that with the famous 'Inverted Frame' error, and the impressions thus show the 'WESTERN' labels of the adjoining units arranged tete-beche. An item of great technical interest and historical significance, and a major Western Australian rarity, unique

    1885-93 Watermark Crown CA (sideways) 1d Carmine (with surface scrape at top) and 2d Grey (ironed out crease), both with variety 'Watermark Sideways Inverted' (Crown to Right of CA). SG 95w,96w, cat £155 (2)

    Estimate: $220T

    1885-93 Watermark Crown CA 1/- Pale Olive-green block of 8 (bottom right unit with defective corner), and 1/- Olive-green block of 9 (perfs trimmed at right, and a few tone spots on reverse), both cancelled 'R' in circle. Unusual and scarce multiples in the two catalogued shades

    Ottmar Zieher cards featuring Western Australia stamps, a duplicated selection with embossed cards (6, two used, one with Hannan Street Kalgoorlie scene, another with printed menu), flat card (1), also the cruder V.S.M. Series (5, four with Western Australian scenes), plus the 1979 150th Anniversary of W.A. reproduction (15, a number with PSE cut-outs affixed and postmarked). Many of the early cards have defects of various sorts (27)

    Estimate: $30

    1903 (2 Dec) picture postcards (2) addressed to London and posted on board ship bound for Australia, each franked with GB 1d KEVII tied by Fremantle 'PO' duplex and other a fine strike 56 x 8mm without lines, former with small tear repaired by sellotape. An interesting pair showing the use of two different types of 'PAQUEBOT' mark at Fremantle on the same day on mail presumably off the same boat (2)
