    1937 1d Green KGVI oval embossed Die Proof in issued colour on thin white card (101 x 126mm) with Postmaster-General's Department label affixed at base 'Proof printed from the die of 1d stamp design'. A superb proof and the only example recorded in private hands; another is recorded as having been presented to the Royal Collection. BW ES75(DP)1, cat AU$12,500

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1937-41 1d Green KGVI oval embossed envelope headed 'PASS BOOK ONLY' and with return printed address for the Hobart Savings Bank (165 x 107mm), very fine unused and scarce. BW ES75, cat AU$100+

    1939-42 1d Green and 1½d Brown KGVI oval embossed for Australian Defence Canteens, the 1d fine unused, and the 1½d used 9 June 1942. BW ES75, 77, cat AU$175 (2)

    Estimate: $2,500 Realised Price : $5,250

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1940-41 1d + 1d Green KGVI oval embossed for The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Co. Ltd. fine unused with ½d Kangaroo adhesive affixed to meet 2½d letter rate. A very rare envelope of which only this unused example and about ten used examples are recorded. BW ES76, cat AU$4000

    1946-47 1½d Green on Defaced 2½d Red with Type I obliteration of rectangle of bars, on B. Addison Pty. Ltd. window envelope, used at Sydney 28 November 1946. Small corner fault at top left otherwise fine and a major postal stationery rarity with only four examples recorded. BW ES80. cat AU$5000

    1946-47 1½d Green on Defaced 2½d Red with Type II obliteration of oval of bars on Warbuton Franki (Melb.) Ltd. window envelope, the only recorded unused example. A superb example of this stamping error. BW ES81, cat AU$5000

    1946-47 1½d Green on Defaced 2½d Red with Type II obliteration of oval of bars on Warbuton Franki (Melb.) Ltd. window envelope used at Melbourne, 6 December 1947. A fine example of this stamping error. BW ES81. cat AU$2000

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1943-46 1½d Green + 1d Brown KGVI oval embossed used from, Sydney 5 January 1943 (the earliest known date), user unknown, very fine used. Only five examples of his envelope are recorded, from four different users. BW ES82, cat AU$4000

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1937-41 2d Red KGVI oval embossed for Groves, McVitty & Co. variety 'Albino Impression', few minor spots otherwise fine unused. BW ES83, unlisted

     

    Lot 892
    Estimate: $400

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1950-51 2d Violet and 2d Green KGVI oval embossed envelopes, used by Harris Scarfe Ltd. (Adelaide) for the 2d printed matter rate. This rate came into force on 1 December 1950, at which time the colour of the embossing should have been changed from violet to green, however one printing was made for Harris Scarfe in violet. The 2d violet with some toning down right side of envelope. See Note in BW catalogue, BW ES84 and 85, cat AU$875 (2)

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1942-50 2d Bright Mauve KGVI oval embossed (for permit mail), a fine example used by permit holder P.M. 354 and cancelled at Melbourne 20 December 1947. BW ES84, cat AU$200

     

    Lot 894
    Estimate: $3,000 Realised Price : $3,400

    1947(?) 2½d + 2½d Red KGVI oval embossed used by permit holder P.M. 354 (Roy Robbins, Turf Accountant) to meet the permit rate plus airmail fee, used from Melbourne to Broken Hill, 13 October 1947. Very fine and a rarity, with only four examples recorded. BW ES87, cat AU$6000

    1951-53 3d Green KGVI crowned oval embossed window envelope for The Shell Company of Australia Limited, fine unused, the example illustrated in the BW catalogue. BW ES89, cat AU$100

    Stamped-to-order Envelopes: 1960-65 5d Light Blue QEII window envelope embossed for the Myer Emporium, variety 'Albino Impression', back flap sealed otherwise fine unused. BW ES98, cat AU$250
