    1953 3d and 3½d Produce Food se-tenant strips of 3 'die proofs' in issued colours in separate sunken frames, with Note Printing Branch cachets on reverse endorsed '1/23.1.53' (for Sir William McKell, Governor-General), both proofs with minor peripheral staining. These proofs are actually imperforate stamps as the method production meant that no die proofs were used. Eight sets of die proofs were prepared, one of which is in the Royal Collection. BW 287/8/9DP(1) and 290/1/2DP(1), cat AU$15,000

Purves, Stamp Advisory Committee), some toning and staining of mount, proofs are generally fine. Eight sets of die proofs were prepared, one of which is in the Royal Collection. Russell, Stamp Advisory Committee), peripheral staining on 3½d proof, very minor blemishes on 2/-, Eight sets of die proofs were prepared, one of which is in the Royal Collection. Despite the Brusden-White note, the red triangle on this proof appears to be printed and not handpainted. Eight die proofs were prepared, one of which is in the Royal Collection.     1960 8d Tiger Cat lower right corner blocks of 6, with varieties 'Retouch to Shading Right of Head States III and IV ('Typhoon)' respectively, both blocks with cds cancels of July 1967 (!), nevertheless very unusual in used positional blocks. BW cat for used singles AU$225 (12)

    1962 5d John MacDouall Stuart presentation die proof in issued colour in sunken frame, with Note Printing Branch cachet on reverse endorsed '28.6.62/4' for B.F. Jones, Deputy Director-General of the P.M.G.s Department), showing areas of staining. All examples of this proof seen by us show similar staining caused by the adhesive tape used to affix the proofs. Ten die proofs were prepared, one of which is in the Royal Collection. BW 386(DP)12, cat AU$2500

    Estimate: $3,000

    1965 5d Christmas error 'Brown Omitted' affecting the faces, hands and hair. Soiling on perf tips and vertical crease through lower half of stamp. This is a very rare error, a sheet was purchased at the Manly post office, a few were used (and lost) and several were put aside, subsequently the Australian Post Office confiscated the rest of the sheet. It is believed that only about a half dozen mint examples exist. SG 381c, cat £4500, BW 435cc, cat AU$8500
