    1914-15 'G.R.I.' Surcharges Second Printing ('G.R.I. and value 6mm apart) 2d on 10pf Carmine and 3d on 25pf Black and Orange on Buff, large part OG, 3d on 25pf with missing corner perf. SG 18, 22, cat £220 (2)

Overprints: 1915-16 Single Watermark KGV 1d Red plate varieties, comprising 'Saddle on Emu (I/36) unused (some toning), 'Rusted Top Right Corner (III/29), 'Damaged Right Frame' (V/30), 'Dot Before 1' (VI/21), 'Secret Mark (VII/1), 'Nick in Left Frame (VII/32), 'Neck Flaw' (VII/37), 'Thin ONE PENNY' (VIII/14) and 'Run N' (VIII/60), all used, couple of small tone spots, otherwise fine and a scarce group. SG cat £600 for the four listed varieties (9)

    N.W.P.I. Overprints: 1918-22 Fifth Setting 1d Carmine-red KGV variety 'Die II Substituted Cliche' superb MUH, with 2007 BPA Certificate. SG 103ba, cat £1000+

    N.W.P.I. Overprints: 1918-22 Fifth Setting 4d Yellow-orange KGV variety 'Line Through 'FOUR PENCE' fine with large part OG and lightly hinged, with 1991 BPA Certificate. SG 104a, cat £850

     

    Lot 986

    N.W.P.I. Overprints: 1918-22 Fifth Setting KGV 1d Violet group of plate varieties, comprising 'Neck Flaw' (VII/37) used, 'RA Joined' (VII/60) in mint pair, 'Corner Dot' (VIII/54) used (some toning and rounded corner), and 'Run N' (VIII/60) in used pair (toning at upper left). The two SG listed varieties cat £280 (6)

    1932 Sunken Die Proof of 2d Undated Bird in Red on sunken card with manuscript '11/3/32.' minor flap fault otherwise a superb item free of tone spots. The only recorded example, and a superb item for a "Bird" or New Guinea exhibit
