Between 1893 and 1901 stamps were supplied to the U.P.U. in mint condition. The Bechuanaland
receiving handstamp was applied to all stamps received without any form of defacement

1902 Wmk V over Crown Perf 12½ Melbourne Printings £1 Orange-Brown cancelled-to-order with four concentric circles and with additional diagonal ‘MUESTRA’ overprint. Fine part o.g. and possibly the only recorded example
The ‘MUESTRA’ handstamp is believed to have been used for U.P.U. stamps sent to Spanish colonies,
but was applied only to the top denominations of a series, hence it is rarely seen

1901 Wmk W Crown A Perf 14 2½d unused, 1902 Wmk V over Crown Perf 12½ 1d to £1 Orange-Brown cancelled-to-order with four concentric circles, and 1905-07 5d unused, and 3d, 6d and 1/- cancelled-to-order with ‘PERTH’ c.d.s, all affixed to piece of ledger page and with additional ‘ULTRAMAR’ handstamp in blue or violet. Overall toning and some spots around perfs on some values, otherwise generally fine. Ex the Goa archive (16)
Between 1895 and 1910 U.P.U. specimen stamps sent to Lisbon for distribution to Portuguese
Colonies were further handstamped ‘ULTRAMAR’ prior to despatch
