Arney No. 5817 at Cassell, Germany, sent via the Australian Red Cross in London, with circular '52/Gepruft/POSTPROFUNGSSTELLE/KSL. KONNANDANTUR/GEFANGENEN/LAGER/CASSEL' in violet, and with censor tape. Private Arney was reported missing in action in France on 11 April 1917, but later reported to be a prisoner-of-war at Cassell. Following repatriation to England after the War, he contracted influenza and died on 3 March 1919
